Pastiche Works
A pastiche is a work of visual art that uses the distinct imagery style or character of the work of one or more other artists, while still infusing the artists own style. Unlike parody, pastiche pays homage to the work it imitates, rather than mocking it.
The Dutch and European masters have always held Stewart's attention regarding technique and subject matter.
" To this day I still study the Dutch masters. Many artists freely admit being influenced by them, no wonder with such an array of craftsmanship and style "
" Portrait of Von Tromp " by Stewart Taylor influenced by Rembrandt van Rijn
" Man with a Crocked Hat " by Stewart Taylor influenced by Frans Hals
" Making Besums " by Stewart Taylor Oil on canvas
" Cockle Pickers by Stewart Taylor " Oil on canvas
